有同学在群里问了这样一个问题：

“Some neighbours are there ready to help. 这里的 there 作什么成分？”

暂且不管上句中的 there 做何成分，我们可以先把上句做几种变化如下：

1. Some neighbours are ready to help.

2. There are some neighbours ready to help.

3. There are some neighbours out there, ready to help.

4. There are some neighbours there who are ready to help.

以上4种变化和原句表达了同样的意思，只是后面3句用了There be句型。

那么上面使用了there be 句型的句子和未使用There be 句型的句子有什么不同呢？

我们可以按“字面”翻译来解读这种不同，如下：

1. Some neighbours are ready to help.

翻译：一些邻居准备提供帮助。

2. There are some neighbours ready to help.

3. There are some neighbours out there, ready to help.

4. There are some neighbours there who are ready to help.

翻译： 有（存在）一些邻居准备提供帮助。

从上面的中文翻译可以看出，区别就在于 句子主语 ”some neighbours“ 前增加了 ”有（存在）“这样一层内涵。

但是，正是因为这一点点微不足道的区别导致了英语There be句型的产生。

下面以一个简单的句子来说明如下：

（存在）有10个人在房间里。

上面句子的核心内容为”（存在）有10个人“ ，而”在房间里“ 是次要内容，也就是句子的主干为”（存在）有10个人“

”（存在）有10个人” 这样的表达在句子结构完整严谨的英语语言中是不能构成句子的，因为缺少了”主语“，那么英语怎么办呢？办法就是给它增加一个主语“ There"使句子结构完整, 于是英语的翻译就成为：

There are ten people in the room.

相对于我们中文思维，凡是遇到“有什么”这样的句子都可以使用there be 句型：

There is a bird singing in the tree. 树上有一只鸟正在唱歌。

Are there any cookies left? 有剩下的曲奇饼吗？

There are a few apple trees scattered among these peach trees. 这片桃树中杂有几棵苹果树。

Is there any difference? 是否有任何的不同？

当然如果是某人有什么东西，就无需there be句型了，因为已经有主语了，如：

I have four sisters. 我有四个姐妹。

Do you have any questions? 你们有任何的问题吗？

They have lots of free time. 他们有大把的自由时间。

同时There be句型也起到了“强调和突出”后面主语作用。

那么能不能按照中文一样的方式处理，翻译为：

1.  Existing ten peopleare in the room.

2. 
   

在英语中，对应于中文 “ （存在）有” 含义的单词并不是”have/has“，而是”exist” , 动词“exist"后面是不能接宾语的，所以上面的句子是错误的。

而动词"have/has"则可以按照中文方式进行处理，如：

Having one child makes you a parent; having two makes you a referee.

一个孩子使你成为父母，两个孩子可以把你变成咨询师。

我们在回到文首的问题：

“Some neighbours are there ready to help. 这里的 there 作什么成分？”

参照上面的句1、句3、句4，可以看出there 在这里是所做的成分是地点状语的作用。

1. Some neighbours are (there) ready to help.

3. There are some neighbours out there, ready to help.

4. There are some neighbours there who are ready to help.
